Dhulipada Dutta was arrested for giving the flag that he had in his possession to a tailor to stitch the undergarment, SP (Nadia) H.K. Kushumakar said. He was produced before a court which sent him to jail for 14 days.
As the tailor was on the job, owners of nearby shops were outraged when they came to know about the incident. The hullabaloo attracted a student, Sabyasachi Mistry, who was passing by, the SP said. Shocked, Mistry took away the half-finished garment to his home. “I could not tolerate the insult to the national flag,” he told. Mistry handed over the garment to police who later arrested the ex-teacher.
